Star Box

Here are some cute star boxes that I have been making.  Let me apologize from the get go of how long this post will be but I'll be giving you step by step directions on how to make this so hopefully it will be easy for you to duplicate if you want to.
Using the largest star framelit, cut out two stars using your card stock.  Using the second largest star, cut out 3 stars out of coordinating designer series paper.
You will also need two 11"x1-1/2" strips of cardstock, one 11"x1-3/8" and one 5"x1-3/8" pieces of card stock.  Also, I used silver foil card stock at 1"x4-1/2".

I used the saying from the Cottage Greeting stamp set and stamped that on a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock in the coordinating ink color and punched it out using the Decorative Label punch.  I sponged the edges in the same ink.
I also punched out one flower using the Petite Petal punch.

Now to start making it - attach one of the pieces of designer series paper onto one of the card stock stars.  Put this aside as this will be used for the lid of the box.
For whatever reason, this picture got turned and I'm not computer savvy enough to know how to turn this picture (that's in my next life) so just ignore that this is sideways and score your 11"x1-3/8" piece down the full length of the cardstock at 1/2".
Now turn your card stock piece and score it at 1/2",  2",  3-1/2", 5", 6-1/2", 8" and  9-1/2".  Your first 1/2" is going to be your "tab" to connect it to the other piece of card stock.
Now you are going to do this again with the 1-3/8"x 5" piece of card stock.  Score it length wise at 1/2".
Turn it and score it at 1/2", 2" and 3-1/2".
Now you are going to trim off at an angle where your "tab" is.  you will cut off each little small square that you created with your scored lines at an angle and also up from the bottom.
Using your bone folder, burnish the card stock on the scored line.
Put some tear and tape on the "tab" of the smaller piece.

Attach it to the larger piece as shown.
Using your bone folder, burnish all the areas that you scored using the valley and mountain fold as shown.

Now take your scissors and cut "v's" at each scored point on the tab section of the card stock.
Add tear and tape onto each tab that you have created.

Start by removing only the first two coverings from the tear and tape.

Take the card stock star the DOES NOT have the designer series paper on it and attach the first two sides of the star as shown.
Now peal off just the next two tear and tape coverings and attach them to the star as shown below.  I found it much easier to work with only 2 "exposed" pieces of tape at a time.
Keep working your way around the star until you get to where you started.
You will see the remaining tab and the last tear and tape piece.
Take off the last tear and tape protective piece and attach the last part together.

Attach one of the designer series paper stars to the inside to finish it off nicely.  The bottom of your box is done!!

Now take your two 11"x1-1/2" pieces of card stock and score them the length of the card stock at 1/2".

Turn and score it on the Simply Scored tool ONLY at the 1/2" mark.

Since we are working on the lid of the box now we want it to be SLIGHTLY bigger than the bottom of the box so it will fit nicely.  To help me guide this, I taped a pice of card stock scrap on my trimmer SLIGHTLY passed the 1-1/2" mark as you can see.
When I bring in my piece of card stock to be scored, I lined up the 1/2" mark right at the place I marked with my scrap of card stock making it SLIGHTLY larger than the 1-1/2" mark.
Continue by bringing the newly scored card stock back to the mark on the trimmer and continue to score the length of the card stock.
You will end up with 6 (plus the tab) sections.
When you get to the next section, you can just cut off the remaining card stock.

Do much the same with the second piece of card stock but this time cut if off after the 4th section has been made (plus the tab).
Once again, cut off the corner and up from the base on the tab section of each piece.
Fold on the score, length wise.
Add the tear and tape onto the smaller tab.
Once again, cut "v's"into each score section.
Add the tear and tape onto each of the tabs.
Flip over the card stock that has the designer series paper on one side and work from the other side once again taking off two pieces of tear and tape at a time and working your way around the star.
When you are done, put the remaining designer series paper on the inside of the star to finish off the inside.
Now you have the top and bottom of the box done.
Now - cross your fingers - they should fit together nicely to complete your box.

To decorate it I stamped this sentiment, punched it out and sponged the edges.

I took the silver foil and used the triple banner punch and punched each side.

This is what the banner should look like.
I ran some Fast Fuse across the back of the stamped image.
I attached the ribbon as shown.  I added Stampin' Dimensionals and attached it to the foil piece.
I added more Stampin' Dimensionals and added this to the box top.

I then trimmed up the ribbon so it wasn't quite so wild looking.
I took the paper piercing tool and pushed in the center of the petal onto our paper piercing mat.  It makes the flower a little more three dimensional.

A glue dot attached it to the front of the card and a rhinestone in the middle and WE'RE DONE!!!  Phew!!!
